Hingvashtaka Churna
Hingvashtaka — the eight-herb digestive classic.
Hingvashtaka literally means 'Hing plus eight' — Hing (asafoetida) supported by eight other warming, digestive dravyas. It's one of those Ayurvedic preparations that nearly every Indian kitchen has had a small box of, somewhere near the spice rack.
Mix a small spoon into the first morsel of food at the beginning of a meal, with a drizzle of ghee. That's how it was traditionally taken, and it's still how we'd recommend it.
What's in the pack
Classical Hingvashtaka formulation: Hing, Sunth, Maricha, Pippali, Ajmoda, Jeera (white and black), Saindhava lavana. Full composition on pack.
How to use
2 to 4 grams (½ teaspoon) mixed with the first morsel of food at the start of meals, with a small amount of ghee. Or as advised by your Ayurvedic physician.
A few things worth noting
Contains Saindhava lavana — those on a strict low-sodium diet should consult. Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers should consult first. Store tightly closed in a cool dry place.
