Hingvashtaka Churna
Hingvashtaka — the eight-herb digestive classic.
Hingvashtaka literally means 'Hing plus eight' — Hing (asafoetida) supported by eight other warming, digestive dravyas. It's one of those Ayurvedic preparations that nearly every Indian kitchen has had a small box of, somewhere near the spice rack.
Mix a small spoon into the first morsel of food at the beginning of a meal, with a drizzle of ghee. That's how it was traditionally taken, and it's still how we'd recommend it.
